Matai Muon (25) is the CEO of the South Sudan Reading Society based in Nairobi. The SSRS is an education focused social innovation that promotes literacy through motivating the next generation to be leaders through reading and knowledge seeking. Muon is a Western Union Award-Winning Scholar, and a YALI Fellow. He is a feminist by experience. He writes and advocates for gender rights and promotes social justice through blogging and opinionated articles. Muon has three sisters, one of whom was forced at 16 years of age to marry a man she does not love, three times older than her.
